Hyla's Computer! Posted by: James (Damn it's Cold) 25 Oct 26 6:08pm

Computer in the shop? Or is that just your way of saying I downloaded way too much porn and need to wipe my harddrive! Just kidding Matt.

Having a great year so far, thank you Roddy and Eli for this week!

Week 7 Update Posted by: mike (Flashes) 26 Oct 31 10:32am

I hope you get the computer back soon. I didn't know what to do on Monday and Tuesday morning at work without the updates on the site. It feels good to atleast be in contention for a playoff spot this year. Thanks for another good year Matt. - Neil

Trade Posted by: mike (Flashes) 28 Nov 5 7:37am

Mike and I are looking to trade Tom Brady and Larry Fritzgerald for a top QB and top WR. We will also consider trading future 2011 draft picks to even out any differences in value.

Trade deadline Posted by: cinnbball (AJs All Stars) 35 Nov 21 11:07am

It looks like it has passed again? Matt can you confirm the tradedead is passed? For some reason I thought we agreed on no trade deadline as ppl were swapping draft picks and keepers pre-this year's draft. Which if thats the case why have deadline at all? Can we revisit this issue next year if the trade deadline has indeed passed? Any breif clarification would be helpful. Good luck everyone

Trade Deadline Posted by: Matt (Employe of the Month) 37 Nov 21 11:18am

Yes the trade deadline did pass, it was last Friday. The deadline was listed in the Scoring & Settings section on yahoo and our main site. It was also listed on the front of the League Page on Yahoo a week to 2 weeks prior to the deadline as a reminder.

Trade Deadline Posted by: James (Damn it's Cold) 38 Nov 21 8:18pm

Why would we not have a trade deadline! If we had none we could have teams stacking their teams for the playoffs cause a last place team gives their team away.

Re: Trade DeadlinePosted by: cinnbball (AJs All Stars) 39 Nov 21 8:42pm

Oh too be soo simple minded....

1. We have rules in place preventing lop sided trades. The league ultimately votes on a trade for fairness. Any tanking would immediately be vetoed.

2. The ultimate goal of the league is for fairness and competitiveness... Thus in order for non playoff owners to be active it is important to give them incentive to log in every week.

3. THIS IS A KEEPERS LEAGUE...the core owners in this league have not changed for the most part. If a team out of the playoff hunt wants to trade for draft picks towards next years draft or keepers he should have that right. The higher ranked team would mortgage their future returns by playing for a return on investment in the current season. A team giving up there best keeper or draft picks would be a disadvantage in 2011 but have a significant advantage in 2010. This has been done in the past and worked out just fine for both parties involved.

Please challenge yourself to think outside the box and see the bigger picture. The relationship between a playoff team and a none playoff team are mutually beneficial. It ENCOURAGES strong management by all.

This is the only keepers league I play in with an actual trade deadline. I would strongly encourage and be in favor of removing the trade deadline.

Commish can we please open the debate on this issue and address it via vote. I understand that that all rules adjustment would not be affective to 2011 but since the topic is out here and in the open forum now..can we please discuss

Trade Deadline part deux! Posted by: James (Damn it's Cold) 40 Nov 21 9:10pm

Simple minded? I sure hope that you are implying I am such. I voiced my opinion in an open forum and did not disrespect you in the least. I understand I am a first year owner but my opinion should mean as much as a long time owner. I paid the same fee everyone else did and deserve the same right to post as you. I have played in many fantasy leagues with and without a deadline, and I must say not having a deadline always led to controversy in the long run. I say open the discussion and let's discuss it, which is exactly what I was doing. I will not rolerate you putting me down though.

Good luck all and have a happy holiday this week.

James

Re: Trade Deadline part deux! Posted by: Matt (Employe of the Month) 41 Nov 21 9:36pm

Yea we can definitely vote on this, be it either now or before next years draft, i will write it down an make sure we do.

Re: Trade Deadline part deux! Posted by: cinnbball (AJs All Stars) 43 Nov 22 9:01pm

I apologize for any insults. I am not trying to discount your ownership and rights to voice your opinion. I would however like to encourage everyone to see the points I made and not resist change.

The forumn has been opened. Any one else have their thoughts? Can we please get 10 votes.

First Ballet...Pro "no trade deadline"

Re: Trade Deadline part deux! Posted by: James (Damn it's Cold) 44 Nov 22 11:26pm

Well You will not get 10 votes sorry. Honestly WHY bring this up in the middle of a season this is something that should be discussed at the draft party? My vote is NO and will stay that way. Thank you for reiterating everything from your previous post.

Re: Trade Deadline part deux! Posted by: cinnbball (AJs All Stars) 45 Nov 23 4:26am

Thank you James for bringing up and making NO points while just having a strong will to resist change. The point of a vote to let everyone have an opinion. Rather or not 5 votes is possible remains unseen.

Entering this week there are five teams in a 6-4 log jam. Flashes is on example of an owner who would have benefited from the rule change as they had trades in place for my wide receivers for keepers. Another prime example of this was Buckeyemike acquiring Adrian Peterson during his strong playoff push last season in return for the 1st over pic this year. I think you will see there are multiple advantages of owners who would be open to a such a change. I would think all 5 teams at 6-4 and the remaining 4 teams below them would all benefit from active trading this week.

Not everyone may be envisioning such lopsided trades as yourself. Late trades for future players has benefited owners in the past while being approved by the majority (5 owners) as fair enough to not veto.

This is the same league that didnt like the idea of trading draft picks and keepers predraft. Fortunately the rule has changed benefited many owners. Further i believe if a trade deadline is to be enforced the current rule of all trading of draft picks and keepers prior to next seasons draft needs to be closed as these items are closely related. Id like to believe this proposed rule change is met with the same acceptance and both rules are accepted to further enhance the competitiveness and creativeness of owners. I am interested to see everyone elses thoughts.

The vote remains 1-1

Re: Trade Deadline part deux! Posted by: James (Damn it's Cold) 46 Nov 23 9:40am

My point that I was making last night, was why are we discussing it now? To me this is a subject better talked about while we are all sitting together at the draft table. Right now I am trying to finish off the season and worry about who to play and who to pick up off waivers. Matt informed me last night that last year there was a trade deadline, so that must mean that Buckeye mike Acquired Peterson before this deadline correct? Anyway this will be my final post regarding this. My vote remains now, it is not that I am resistant to change, it means I do not agree with the change.

Waiver Wire Posted by: Matt (Employe of the Month) 49 Nov 28 10:57am

Thanks Matt for the playoff scenarios. I'm sure that was not easy. We appreciate it. It just feels good to be listed as a team that can make it. We haven't been in this situation in years.
